The Portuguese Parliament is discussing two bills regarding the legalization of non-medical personal use of cannabis (recreational use).

The bills in question were presented separately by Bloco de Esquerda and by Iniciativa Liberal political parties. The aim is to fully decriminalize the consumption, cultivation, acquisition, possession of cannabis plants or associated substances for personal.

The bills also present regulatory options regarding the cultivation, production, and distribution of cannabis and its derivatives.
